Designed the mobile disaster recovery capability for Fort Stewart: a fleet of vehicles able to deploy across Georgia during disasters and operate where fixed infrastructure was gone. The vehicle kit was a packaged, repeatable integration of equipment from multiple manufacturers meeting the Army’s data transmission requirements and FIPS and related federal standards.
Designed the transportable wireless kit for U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill AFB — a two-site package carrying voice, video and data over a point-to-point link where no fixed infrastructure existed, with survivable remote site telephony, analogue extensions and PSTN breakout, Tandberg video conferencing, and attachment to Department of Defense classified and unclassified transport at the fixed end.
The governing constraint in both was reproducibility. Every vehicle had to be built the same way and work the same way in the hands of whoever drew it, which makes a kit a reference architecture that happens to fit in a trunk.
