Routing design at CCIE depth, and the specific problem that recurs: making traffic take the path you intended when the paths are not equivalent.

The clearest example is the GE power generation monitoring network, carrying real-time plant telemetry from sites in China and Perth back to an energy management centre in Florida. Bonded multilink serial transport — four 2 Mbps interfaces aggregated to 8, and two to 4 — with EIGRP delay tuning to control path preference across links of unequal capacity, and HSRP router pairs at every site with cross-over links between them.

At the City of Jacksonville the same discipline appeared as OSPF area redesign with authenticated adjacencies during the data centre consolidation, and HSRP on the redundant switch pair that took Layer 3 off the server stacks.
